Conversion workflows and practical checks
Prepare a PDF, use desktop conversion tools and check the resulting book. These guides help you choose a manageable workflow, whether you want a quick sample or closer control over the reading edition.
Keep an unchanged source copy and compare a recognisable passage. A workflow is useful when you can repeat its checks, not just follow its upload steps.
Use the shortest route that gives you a checkable result
For permitted uploads and ordinary reading, start with the original PDF and an EPUBTurn sample. For confidential files that cannot leave an approved computer, choose an approved local route. For document rewriting, an intermediate editable file may be useful before EPUB authoring, but each extra export adds another opportunity for headings and images to change.
Compare the local Calibre run with the Word intermediate workflow when deciding how much control you need.
Put recognition before reading-order repair
A scanned page needs recognisable words before paragraph reconstruction can help. The real cookbook scans contain photographs, recipe quantities and imperfect existing OCR. Inspect the page image against copied text before attributing an error to a converter. Rotation, low contrast and unusual type can each require a different correction.
Use the rotation guide to check orientation before recognition. The OCRmyPDF-to-Calibre guide explains the two stages without presenting an untested workflow as a measured result.
Retain a copy at each boundary
Keep the source PDF, untouched conversion output and repaired EPUB separately. Change one known defect at a time, then compare the same sentence or figure. The real research-paper comparison distinguishes four default competitor outputs from a reviewed EPUBTurn export with manual equation-crop corrections. The scanned cookbook check uses Calibre’s unchanged default result. Keep those workflows separate when comparing results.
Use targeted EPUB inspection when the defect is small. If the repair requires rebuilding many chapters, compare another sample from the source before investing in manual edits.
