Multilingual PDF conversion: check names, accents and order

Inspect each language separately and ask a reader of that language to check meaning when you cannot. Preserve the PDF when direction or typography carries essential information.

Inspect each language as its own text

A bilingual page may put translations side by side or alternate paragraphs. Establish the intended sequence in the source before evaluating a single reading flow. Check headings and boundaries separately for each language. Do not assume that every adjacent block belongs to the same sentence merely because the page places translations close together.

Preserve accents and direction

Check names, punctuation and directional order against the source. A character that looks unfamiliar to you may be correct; a familiar-looking replacement may be wrong. Mixed numbers and punctuation deserve attention in right-to-left passages. Copy a short phrase where possible and ask a reader of the language to confirm meaning when you cannot.

Keep layout-dependent meaning available

Parallel translations, dictionaries and language exercises can depend on their spatial relationship. A reflowed edition may help with continuous reading while the PDF remains better for comparing lines. Keep the source for any passage whose arrangement carries the learning task. Do not advertise language accuracy on the basis of one unfamiliar page that you only checked visually.

Use a bilingual anchor pair

Choose a heading and a short passage in each language that you can identify in the source. Find both in the EPUB and check which content follows each heading. Side-by-side translations should not become alternating fragments of one mixed sentence.

Where you cannot read the language, you can still note location and appearance, but semantic accuracy remains unchecked. Ask a competent reader to inspect meaning before relying on the conversion. Preserve names and symbols exactly, and keep the PDF for language exercises or parallel-text tasks whose spatial relationships matter. A tidy page is not evidence that an unfamiliar script survived correctly.

Check whether a bibliography or index uses a different script from the main text. A successful body paragraph does not establish every character set in the document. Record which language passages were inspected and which require a qualified reader. A clear limitation is preferable to a confident claim based on unfamiliar text.

Check accents, punctuation and text direction against the source; do not replace unfamiliar text with a plausible rewrite.

Try multilingual content on your own PDF

EPUBTurn creates adjustable reading text from permitted PDFs. Choose a document whose language you or a qualified reader can verify. Check names, script order and punctuation against the source; the English research-paper test does not establish accuracy for other scripts.

Try your permitted PDF and inspect the languages actually represented in its automatically selected sample. Up to ten selected pages may omit a second-language section. Keep omitted content untested and check the displayed upload and page limits before continuing.

Test the languages actually present in your source

The actual NASA sample EPUB and actual cookbook measures EPUB provide English text observations only. They cannot prove Arabic order, accents or multilingual recognition. Choose a PDF whose languages you or a qualified reader can verify, then compare the selected names and punctuation. EPUBTurn’s sample is a conversion trial, not translation or a language accuracy certificate.

NASA source

D. Harold Shelton, Apollo experience report: Lunar module stabilization and control system, NASA, 1975. US government work; public use permitted. Original pages 3–8 extracted; sample selects excerpt pages 4–6.

Keep a language-learning passage beside its vocabulary

A language reader can pair a passage with a translation, glossary or pronunciation notes. Establish the source’s intended order first: paragraph followed by translation, two parallel columns, or a story followed by a word list. An EPUB reading copy should support that lesson structure, rather than combine both languages into a confusing sentence.

Upload an authorised reader PDF to EPUBTurn and inspect the automatically selected sample. Compare a short passage containing accented letters with its matching translation or vocabulary explanation. Check proper names, punctuation and the boundary between languages. A vocabulary sidebar should not interrupt the middle of a sentence when the reading order becomes a single flow.

Download the EPUB and enlarge the text in your preferred reader. Make sure the word list remains understandable without the original page placement. A successful conversion does not add translation, audio pronunciation or spaced repetition; those are separate learning features. If the publisher offers a native EPUB, compare that edition first. Keep the PDF for any exercise whose layout is needed to understand the task. No parallel-text reader conversion has been tested in the evidence shown here.
