When EPUB reflow changes the meaning of poetry
Poetry can depend on line endings, stanza spaces and page composition. Distinguish deliberate lineation from ordinary screen wrapping before choosing a reflowed edition.

Decide whether line breaks carry meaning
- Identify whether lineation is intentional.
- Compare one stanza against the printed poem.
- Increase text size and inspect wrapping.
- Keep fixed pages when composition matters.
Distinguish original lines from reader wrapping
A long original poetic line may wrap visually on a narrow screen while retaining its intended line boundary. Check where the next original line starts rather than demanding that every line fit on one screen. Stanza gaps, indents and punctuation can carry meaning as well. If those features cannot be preserved clearly at your reading size, the fixed PDF may be the better edition. For prose with accidental printed line breaks, reflow is helpful; for deliberate poetic lineation, the same joining operation can be inappropriate.
Inspect Blake’s actual stanza and line breaks
William Blake’s The Lamb and The Tyger are available in the published Poems of William Blake collection. Choose one complete stanza and compare its line endings and stanza space with your reading copy. Increasing the font may wrap a long line on screen; that wrap should not replace the poem’s deliberate line break or merge two stanzas. Use the original poem as the reference instead of a newly written three-line exercise. The collection supplies real poetry for an inspection method; we do not claim a conversion or lineation test result.

Poetry may need its original layout
Do not assume every short printed line is accidental PDF wrapping. Poetry may need preserved lineation or a fixed-page edition. EPUBTurn is not a guarantee of faithful typographic poetry reproduction.
Use fixed pages when layout is the poem
Some poems use spacing, indentation or arrangement across the page as part of their meaning. A normal prose reading flow may not preserve that composition. Inspect a representative stanza at both small and large text before deciding whether the reading copy works.
Separate original lineation from a line that merely wraps because the screen is narrow. The original break should remain identifiable even when a long line needs more than one screen line. If the reader cannot distinguish those cases, retain the PDF for close reading. The goal is not to force every poem into adjustable prose but to choose an edition that preserves the features you care about.
Use a prose sample without treating it as a poetry test
The NASA download contains continuous technical prose and numbered functions; it does not demonstrate Blake’s deliberate lineation. Compare the actual poem linked earlier with your own sample, retaining each stanza boundary and intended line break. If a line wraps at a larger font, distinguish that screen wrap from an original poetic break. EPUBTurn can offer a companion reading copy, but keep the source poem when the page arrangement carries meaning.
