EPUBTurn vs PDF2EPUB: compare a published research paper
Choose an AI conversion mode by the paper you need to read. Check a multi-panel figure, its caption and the surrounding argument before judging a model tier.

Choose by the research paper, not the model name
PDF2EPUB advertises AI conversion, OCR, translation and multiple model tiers. Its homepage, checked on 6 October 2026, offers the first forty pages of the first task free using Lite. Remaining pages and later tasks use credits. An included Lite sample does not establish what Pro or Ultra would produce.
If your goal is to read a journal article comfortably, begin with the figures and argument. EPUBTurn offers a reading-focused sample: inspect the included pages before deciding whether full conversion is useful. A longer feature list is not a substitute for reading the result.
What the EPUBTurn review required
EPUBTurn’s initial export was blocked by a quality check on equation crops on page 7. Three rectangles were manually reviewed and corrected. The displayed EPUBTurn result includes that review; it is not an untouched default conversion.
The download comes from EPUBTurn’s existing EPUB exporter. The browser service still blocked export because its job status had not updated. We did not obtain a working browser download for this trial.
Compare the documented workflow
| Decision | PDF2EPUB | EPUBTurn |
|---|---|---|
| Route | Lite first-task allowance; Pro and Ultra are different paid model routes. | Upload a permitted PDF and inspect up to ten automatically selected sample pages. |
| Evidence | No account created or competing EPUB obtained. | The labelled panels compare the published source with EPUBTurn, not with another provider. |
| Decision before paying | Confirm the chosen route and actual included content. | Read the included sample and confirm the required credits and checkout cost. |
What the reviewed reading copy shows
In EPUBTurn’s reviewed file, the two-column passage reads in order and the selected Results values remain attached to their population conditions. Figure 1 retains all three panels and legends, but bottom axis labels and ticks in panels B and C are clipped. Model-based conversion still needs that figure check.
A published paper with a genuinely demanding figure
The input is the first ten pages of a published Nature Communications paper about fish reproductive potential on coral reefs. The original article has eleven pages; our excerpt omits the final reference and licence page. No research wording, measurements or artwork was invented for the comparison.
Figure 1 on page 3 combines a world map, a density plot and a scatterplot. A useful reading copy needs the points, coloured intervals, reference lines and legends, as well as the caption explaining panels A, B and C. Preserving the caption while losing the plotted relationships would change what a reader can learn.

What the comparison establishes
No PDF2EPUB account was created and no competing EPUB was obtained. The panels below are labelled Source PDF and EPUBTurn. They must not be read as a head-to-head test of PDF2EPUB’s models.
Keep recognition, translation and proofreading separate when evaluating a service. Translation changes the reading language; proofreading introduces another stage of editing. For an honest conversion check, save the unedited download before applying those options.
Make the trial answer your own question
Find an important figure in your paper and read its caption with the plotted content. Follow the nearby paragraph into the next column. A picture that survives still needs readable labels; correct words still need the right sequence.
If you investigate PDF2EPUB, record the chosen model and the pages supplied. Compare the same passage in EPUBTurn rather than a clean introduction from one route and a dense results page from another. The service’s automatic sample selects up to ten pages, so check the actual coverage.
Try your permitted paper with EPUBTurn. Keep the source available for fine chart details and decide from the included reading content before buying credits.
