Choose PDF or EPUB for reading on reMarkable
Choose around comfortable prose reading or page-based handwriting. Follow the current reMarkable import guidance and check how your own model displays and annotates the book.

Use reMarkable’s documented import route
reMarkable’s current transfer instructions list PDF and EPUB for its companion apps. On a computer, open the reMarkable app and use Import, or drag the file into the app. The web and USB routes have a documented 100 MB transfer limit; larger files use a companion app. Read the separate ebook instructions before choosing a book: DRM-protected and Kindle books are excluded.
After importing, open a known heading, change reading text size and inspect the same diagram you checked in the source PDF. Keep a PDF copy when handwriting against fixed page positions is the main task. We have not performed this import on a physical reMarkable model, so the controls described here come from provider documentation rather than a device test.
Check reMarkable import and layout guidance
- Check current reMarkable import guidance.
- Decide whether exact page layout is important.
- Try a non-sensitive reading sample.
- Check annotation behaviour on your own device.
Choose the format around actual study notes
A research paper can serve two different tasks: continuous reading of the discussion, or handwritten annotations beside a chart and equation. Compare those needs before transferring the file to reMarkable. The published-paper comparison retains the original PDF so exact pages and figure labels remain available, while the reviewed EPUB gives a different reading copy with known chart-label limitations. Use your own device to check annotation behaviour and import; our file inspection does not establish a physical reMarkable result.
Confirm the actual reMarkable workflow
Consult the current import guide for your model before choosing EPUB. Do not assume the device behaves like a conventional EPUB reading app with every familiar text-control feature; reMarkable processes imported book content through its own document workflow. Test the exact reading and annotation tasks on your device. If handwriting on the original page or diagram geometry is the main task, the PDF may be the simpler choice. EPUBTurn can supply a reading edition, but the device determines how that edition is displayed.
Desktop checks do not establish reMarkable behaviour
No physical reMarkable test was performed for this guide. Do not infer device behaviour from a desktop preview. Keep the original PDF for precise page-based annotations.
Separate the saved reading file from reMarkable import
The NASA sample gives you real hardware labels and numbered prose to inspect after an import. Download the file first, then use reMarkable’s current import guidance and record your own model and software. Choose the original PDF when handwriting beside an exact drawing is your priority. We have not tested the NASA file on a physical reMarkable; EPUBTurn’s retained content does not establish that device’s annotation or layout behaviour.
